Hi! I’m Petra Tabarelli, a football historian with a lot of passion for and expertise on the history of football rules. Sounds boring? Then take a chance to talk to me about it. So far I have been able to catch everyone with my enthusiasm.

I am a woman who can explain the meaning and purpose of the rules of football to you. The Laws of the Game are the basic essence of the modern game of football and act and react to changes in the game and in society. Therefore, they are a pivotal point for the general development of football. To have knowledge of the evolution of the rules is to have knowledge of the entire game of football. I am the only person in the world who has researched the development so well.

Since 2017, I have been publishing articles on the history of football rules, but also on female referees in men’s football and on women in football in general. Most of it is published directly on Nachspielzeiten – for the most part also in English.

Some is published in the DFB-Schiedsrichter-Zeitung or as part of the FRÜF column at WebDE, but therefore only in German. For the sake of completeness, they are also linked here, but with a sign (πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ).

Would you like to work with me, for example for an interview or a guest article? Or my consulting expertise? Feel free to get in touch via πŸ“© email or via πŸ”— LinkedIn.

I am also a book author and wrote the first biography of Simon Rosenberger, a Jewish football pioneer who was known throughout Germany until he was erased from history during the Nazi era. Throughout his life he was one of the best-known personalities in German football, including as editor of Walther Bensemann in Kicker and founder of the DFB refereeing magazine. (The biography is in German.)
